The course aims to help create an awareness of the different aspects to be considered when implementing GAP. It is addressed to extension agents, farmers, the private sector and junior policy makers engaged in improving agricultural practices and ensuring food safety. Emphasis is placed on applying Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
Good agricultural practices (GAP) are practices that address environmental, economic and social sustainability for on-farm processes and result in safe and quality food and non-food agricultural products. The practices stand on four pillars (i.e. economic viability, environmental sustainability, social acceptability and food safety and quality).
